Weekly Devotional - August 2nd

My son, pay attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings.

They are not to escape from your sight;

Keep them in the midst of your heart.

For they are life to those who find them,

And healing to all their body.

Watch over your heart with all diligence,

For from it flow the springs of life.

Rid yourself of a deceitful mouth

And keep devious speech far from you.

Let your eyes look directly ahead

And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.

Watch the path of your feet,

And all your ways will be established.

Do not turn to the right or to the left;

Turn your foot from evil.

Proverbs 4:20-27

Solomon highlights that wisdom takes a specific path. It starts in the soul when a person opens his heart to hear God's grace. As this wisdom is valued, it becomes rooted and sustained within the soul. It then shows itself in both thoughts and actions, glorifying God, with a determined focus on the goal, leading to a blessed, Spirit-filled life.
