For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through
endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Romans 15:4
In Paul's epistle to his esteemed friend Titus, he refers to the glorious return of Jesus as our
blessed hope; (Titus 2:13). In the text of Romans, Paul indicates that the culmination of a
believer’s hope is the encouragement we derive from the Scriptures. The significance of
Scripture is particularly vital in our contemporary era of relativism and skepticism. It is the
comfort found in God's word that offers us true hope.
