Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who for my life risked their own necks, to whom not only do I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles; also greet the church that is in their house.
Romans 16:3-5
Paul provides some remarkable testimony here of Christian fellowship, sacrifice, and service. He calls the reader to remember two of his companions, Prisca (Priscilla) and Aquila, not only for their partnership but also for their courage and hospitality, as evidenced in Acts 18. Paul is emphasizing God’s sovereign hand in placing these two servants exactly where they were needed to strengthen the early church.
The work of Prisca and Aquila should remind us today that our abilities, opportunities, and even our courage come from God for His will. Even their home became a gathering place for the church, which, in a sense, was a visible expression of God’s kingdom advancing through ordinary means.
